DHL Partners with Bahrain CAA for Paris Air Show

MANAMA, Bahrain, June 14, 2011 -


DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, is partnering with
Bahrain’s Civil Aviation Affairs when they participate at the Paris
Air Show in June, reputed to be the world’s largest aviation event.
The Bahrain group will showcase and promote the Kingdom’s aviation
sector, including the forthcoming Bahrain international Airshow,
which will be held at the Sakhir Air Base from 19 to 21 January
2012

Kingdom of Bahrain as an aviation hub to the rest of the world,”
said Ian Carey, Vice President, Aviation, DHL Express - Asia
Pacific
, East Europe, Middle East and Africa. “DHL is a strong part
of Bahrain’s aviation history. DHL Express has been here for 30
years and has based its Middle East air network operations in
Bahrain for 18 years.”

Historically, Bahrain was a gateway between East and West,
whilst more recently it has become a strategic hub for the Northern
Gulf. As part of Bahrain’s Vision 2030, the CAA is driving the
growth of the aviation sector in the Kingdom.

“The Paris Air Show, which takes place every two years, is an
important event for us to participate in as it gathers together key
industry figures from the aviation world. We are delighted to have
the support of DHL at the Paris Air Show, as our long term aviation
partner. Together we are able to immediately demonstrate the
benefits of Bahrain as a regional gateway,” said Capt Abdulraham Al
Gaoud, Undersecretary for Civil Aviation Affairs.

DHL Aviation EEMEA is a designated cargo carrier for the
Kingdom. The airline has been a long standing participant of the
Bahrain aviation sector and was issued Air Operators Certificate No
3.

Bahrain is a very important point of connectivity for DHL’s
global network. Each week, almost 100 flights are operated on
behalf of DHL to / from the Kingdom. These include regional flights
and long-haul intercontinental flights.

“In the last couple of years, DHL has made a significant
investment in its air network, particularly in its dedicated
intercontinental network services. As a direct result, we have seen
a marked increase in the number of flights operated to / from
Bahrain. With this ramp up of activity, Bahrain has become an even
more important element of our global network,” said Ian Carey, Vice

efficiently, as they have always done, and we look forward to many
