Earn and Learn

OXFORD, England, August 30, 2011 -
Young people need a high-quality education to succeed in an increasingly globalised workplace as the labour market is becoming more and more selective. The lack of relevant skills brings a higher risk of unemployment.
Even if you have a first degree and your first job you will still need to keep up with your professional development and make sure you get your professional qualifications. It is quite important that what you learn is seen by employers as being internationally transferable.
If you are lucky and already have a job in marketing or a related area - such as in sales, customers care, data base management and marketing research for example, then taking your professional marketing qualifications could be a way forward for you to increase your chances of success. 38% of students currently enrolled at Oxford College of Marketing said that since starting their Chartered Institute of Marketing course they had either got an increase in pay or were in discussion.
“Earn and learn” is becoming an increasingly popular way for young people to fund their education by taking responsibility for themselves, getting a job and doing work they like and at the same time staying out of debt.
You may even find your employer is willing to help you pay for your college fees. After all, your increase in understanding of what can impact on your employers business will help them increase shareholder value, long term cash flows, sustainable competitive advantage and brand reputation. Investing in you is important for them as well if they are to keep their competitive edge.
“Earn and learn” is also a way forward for people who do not want to go to University at all and would prefer to start work straight away. Especially as the drop out rates are so high and the thought of facing furious parents, plus the debt they may have well incurred may put less academic students off. Chartered Institute of Marketing courses are practically applied and this is an important part of the learning. How to do a better job!
The internet has made learning much easier to get a globally recognised qualification. More and more students all over the world are taking distance learning courses. Oxford College of Marketing offers students a variety of learning methods in the UK and globally.
The Chartered Institute of Marketing qualifications are internationally recognised and offer a route for people who want professional qualifications. You may already have finished University and want a job in marketing but you do not know how to go about getting one. Or you may already be professional marketers and want to improve your skills so you can do a better job. Or you may have already dropped out of your course, love business and want to know how to get ahead.

Tips for combining work and study
Choose the correct level
- If you have a Business Degree, or Marketing degree with half your subjects in marketing, or MBA (or at least more than 6 years experience at a senior level) choose the Professional Post Graduate in Marketing. If for instance you are a graduate with only a third of your subjects in marketing, go for the Professional Diploma in Marketing. If you have just left school or have dropped out of University go for the Certificate in Marketing. If your degree was not in marketing do our Graduate Foundation and enrol on the Diploma.
- Once you have finished the highest level - the Professional Post Graduate in Marketing you can go on and get an MA in Marketing or an MSC in Marketing at a British University.
- Choose a college that offers the greatest flexibility so you can work in your own time. For instance Oxford College of Marketing has an online system that is globally accessible. Overseas students can fly in to the Gatwick centre for weekend study.
- Ask your employer for help towards paying for your fees.
