eCommerce Business - Borderlinx - Gives Canadian Visa Customers Access to US Market

BRUSSELS - eCommerce business - Borderlinx (www.borderlinx.com) - is working with Visa to give its cardholders the chance to easily purchase goods online from US retailers.

Borderlinx provides shoppers with a US address and shipping services to make previously hard to access US stores as easy to shop from as their local retailers. Canada is the first country to benefit from the agreement with Visa, with roll-out to new countries planned for later this year.

Visa (www.visaperks.ca/visaperks/) cardholders will benefit from free registration to the Borderlinx service as well as an exclusive 15% saving on Borderlinx shipping costs until the end of 2009.

With Canadian families predicted to spend an average of $600 online before Labour Day (September 7)(1), access to US shops comes at a good time as consumers go online to search for bargains.

Based on recent research conducted for Visa by The Research House, shoppers cited variety as the main reason for wanting to shop from US stores (37%) with price being the other leading factor (34%). To make shopping decisions easier, Borderlinx provides a calculator to estimate the total cost prior to purchase including taxes, duties, currency conversion and shipment costs to Canada. Using the Borderlinx service, online shoppers can consolidate purchases from multiple US stores into one shipment to further reduce costs.
