Ekahau to integrate enterprise wireless offerings with Juniper Networks

Ekahau Inc., the high-performance leader in Wi-Fi based Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), today announced it has joined the Juniper Networks Technology Alliance program as a foundation partner. As part of the collaboration, Juniper’s family of WLAN controllers and access points will be integrated with Ekahau’s market leading RTLS and WLAN planning and analysis tools to provide even more choice in how network managers use location services and plan and verify their network coverage.

RTLS solutions are being increasingly deployed within large enterprise campus environments such as hospitals, warehouses, manufacturing plants, mines, universities, and entertainment venues to streamline and optimize operations, enhance utilization of valuable assets and improve the safety of staff and visitors. Unlike traditional RFID systems, the Ekahau RTLS system can leverage Juniper’s wireless networks to derive real-time location, status and other information about Ekahau Wi-Fi tags without requiring any proprietary sensors or readers.  The tags in the Ekahau RTLS system use Juniper’s highly reliable WLAN to incorporate advanced two-way communications capabilities that alert staff through the tag itself. The system also allows users to initiate alerts, alarms, requests and other work-flow and safety related events.

“Ekahau RTLS is delivering industry leading performance, from enterprise-wide visibility down to bed-level accuracy, by simply using RTLS software and tags over the existing wireless network,” said Tuomo Rutanen, senior vice president, business development. “This partnership enables enterprise customers to deploy RTLS applications over their Juniper Wi-Fi networks in a very cost-effective way. Ekahau’s leading expertise in RTLS, and Juniper’s global reach in the enterprise markets, makes this a successful partnership for both parties - and for our joint customers.”

“Juniper Networks prides itself on network innovations and partners with companies who fit our vision for creating new networking experiences for customers,” said Steve Troyer, vice president of WLAN and Branch Systems, Juniper Networks.  ”Together with Ekahau we will continue to deliver value through reliable, secure wireless solutions such as real time location services.”

Ekahau RTLS can be deployed locally to serve a single building or campus, or it can be installed in a data center to provide true enterprise-wide visibility in internal or externally hosted cloud architectures. As part of the deployment of Ekahau RTLS, Ekahau’s Wi-Fi Site Survey suite of products have also been integrated into the solution, giving end-users and systems integrators a powerful toolkit for Wi-Fi network planning, verification and tuning along with deploying Ekahau RTLS.
