Acquisition Extends Omnicom's Ability to Deliver Multi-Perspective HealthCare Solutions
LONDON, October 15, 2010 - Diversified Agency Services (DAS), a division of
Omnicom Group, announced that it has acquired Amsterdam-based medical
communications agency Excerpta Medica from world-leading publisher Elsevier.
Excerpta Medica will become a division of Adelphi, a group of unique
businesses that provide multi-perspective healthcare solutions to the
pharmaceutical industry. It will continue to operate as an independent
business, serving its healthcare clients from its offices in Amsterdam, New
Jersey and London.
The acquisition of Excerpta Medica and its unique skill sets will allow
Adelphi to collaborate on an increasing number of wide-ranging global client
assignments. Excerpta Medica has built its reputation on quality delivery of
strategic communication programs in the field of publication planning,
medical meetings and education, interactive solutions and customized
publishing solutions.
"We are delighted to welcome Excerpta Medica to Adelphi," commented
Stuart Cooper, CEO of Adelphi. "We are most impressed with the management
group and their ethos, which brings further creativity and multiple
perspectives to our group. They will operate quite separately from our
existing medical communications teams, enabling us to service a wider range
of clients and franchises with services enriched by our expertise in
real-world health economics and outcomes research, and market access services
that are a major force across Adelphi."
Adelphi provides services in strategic marketing, marketing and business
intelligence, real-world observational research and disease specific
programs, health and economic outcomes research, market access, pricing and
research, health communications, medical education and strategic product
development consultancy.
Over the years Excerpta Medica has worked on many innovative healthcare
solutions for its clients. "Excerpta Medica clients will continue to benefit
from the agency's longstanding relationship with Elsevier as we collaborate
on specific programs," said Michael Hansen, CEO of Elsevier Health Sciences.
"For years I've admired, at a distance, the brilliant work and
well-earned stature of Excerpta Medica. This has always been a company
benchmarked as best in class," said Thomas L Harrison, Chairman and CEO,
Diversified Agency Services Division, Omnicom Group Inc. "Now we have an
exceptional opportunity to align very relevant and insightful businesses to
bring more value and breakthrough strategies to our healthcare clients."
