Following research conducted by Wakefield Research on behalf of Western
Union, nearly half of fathers said they had pretended to like a Father's Day
gift they received.

Of the fathers who responded to the telephone survey, about a third said
that tools were given as the most predictable gift, 20% said they expected a
tie, while another 20% think they'll get aftershave. Books and golf balls
also ranked highly.
