Hunting PLC Announces Call for 2010 Hunting Art Prize; Texas Artists Compete for US$50,000 Award

HOUSTON -

Hunting PLC, an international oil services company, has announced the call for entries in celebration of the 30th annual Hunting Art Prize, a competition for Texas artists that carries a US$50,000 award for the winner.

The Prize relocated to Houston in 2006 after 25 years in the United Kingdom, where it became one of the country’s leading art competitions. It is the most generous annual award for artists in the United States.

The competition is open to established, emerging, and amateur artists who are residents of Texas and who were 18 years of age by August 1, 2009.

Those wishing to enter must submit a single two-dimensional painting or drawing that is no larger than 72 inches by 72 inches. Artists must sign up using the electronic form at www.huntingartprize.com and upload one digital image of their artwork in a JPEG format. Entries must be submitted no later than midnight Monday, November 30, 2009.

Entries will be judged according to a two-tier jury process. After submissions have been reviewed to ensure compliance with contest rules, a panel of jurors will evaluate the digital files and select individuals to move on to the second tier. Those chosen will be asked to submit for consideration the original artwork represented by their digital file.

The panel will then select the winning piece, which will be announced at the Hunting Art Prize gala on May 1, 2010, in Houston.
