LONDON, September 14, 2011 -

Inmarsat (LSE: ISAT), the leading provider of global mobile satellite communications services, has been named Global Satellite Operator of the Year by a panel of industry experts at World Satellite Business Week 2011.

The award, the highest accolade in the satellite sector, is presented to the company that has shown the leading performance and outstanding achievement in several categories. It is presented each September in Paris at World Satellite Business Week, the industry’s premier senior executive event, now in its 15th year.

The judging panel, consisting of experts from Euroconsult, Space News, and Satellite Finance, uses rigorous quantitative and qualitative standards to determine the winning company from across the mobile satellite services (MSS) and fixed satellite services (FSS) sectors.

The award is based on a performance analysis of the market players, and assessment of key performance indicators; which included 2010 revenue growth, EBITDA margin and growth, subscriber growth, and 2007-10 CAGR.  A qualitative assessment also takes innovation, strategic decisions and their impact into account.

Andrew Sukawaty, Chairman and CEO of Inmarsat, said: “I am honoured and delighted to collect the award for Global Satellite Operator of the Year. This award, recognising Inmarsat’s record revenues and profits, is a tribute to the strength and effort of our whole team. We would like to thank the judges for their recognition of our mission-critical services, quality delivery and the continuing success of our business”.
