Furniture Retailer Turns to InTechnology to Boost Business Efficiencies

Barker and Stonehouse, the UK’s largest family-run furniture retailer and online store continues to partner with InTechnology to strengthen its communications infrastructure.

For the last six years Barker and Stonehouse has turned to InTechnology as a trusted partner to solve a number of IT network and performance issues, such as sending large graphics files, across its eight stores and four warehouses.

Chris Fletcher, IT and telecoms manager at Barker and Stonehouse said: “The high-quality photographs of our furniture were, and remain, an important part of our marketing mix but sending them down the network was slowing everything down and impacting productivity. InTechnology provided us with a resilient, high bandwidth MPLS network which meant we could successfully send large files to any company location.”

Natalie Duffield, Director of Sales and Customer Management at InTechnology said: “Barker and Stonehouse came to us with a number of requirements aimed at improving its network, supporting its growth and maintaining its high levels of customer satisfaction.

“In our six years working with Barker and Stonehouse we have seen the company grow from strength to strength. InTechnology’s services have helped it streamline its IT and customer service functions, taking on many of the back-end IT operations and freeing up the retailer’s IT department to concentrate on core, business-critical activities. The company’s bandwidth has been tripled making day-to-day business activities such as file sharing and data management much easier.”

In addition to the business efficiencies, Barker and Stonehouse has also made a number of cost savings. The company has seen a significant reduction in its annual IT expenditure by switching to InTechnology’s services. Deploying InTechnology’s VoIP solution has resulted in all inter-branch calls being free of charge, and its upgraded, higher-bandwidth network costs Barker and Stonehouse less than it had been paying BT.

Chris Fletcher concludes: “As we’ve grown, InTechnology has also been developing its services and I feel we have grown together. We look forward to working with InTechnology in the future and reaping the rewards of what has proved to be an excellent partnership.”
