Interim Management Professional, Clive Sexton, Reveals How You Can Radically Change Your Career

LONDON - In the first of a series of podcasts, Clive Sexton of Impact Executives, a global interim management provider, talks about how you can make radical changes to your career, and by radical he means doing more, sometimes much more, than simply changing job.

Joined by Rob Grimsey and Carol Rosati of Harvey Nash, Clive explains that around 25% of people make a significant change before the age of 40. He says, “40 is increasingly a milestone for people to re-evaluate, then another important milestone is when the mortgage is paid off and children have left the nest.”

Clive says this is an increasing trend, “In the beginning people had one career and one job for life, which then evolved later on in the 20th Century to one career but multiple jobs. We’re in the middle of another major change - the future is going to be very different - multiple careers, multiple jobs, multiple locations.”

Signs that it’s time to make a change can be as simple as losing that jump out of bed “I can’t wait to get to the office!” feeling. Clive advises, “When you sense a consistency over a period of weeks or months and the love you always had for your organisation and role is beginning is fade, then it is probably time to raise your head over the parapet for a new direction be it life change, industry, or role.”
