ROME, November 3, 2011 -

The company has a long and fruitful association with the Italian Army, for which it managed innovative projects in different locations. This year too, Italtel is present at the “Military Forces Day” realizing the Wi-Fi coverage of the Circo Massimo in Rome, which hosts the event from Friday, Nov. 4.

Rome (Italy), November 3, 2011 - Italtel, a leader in the development and integration of products and services for IP / NGN Networks, has designed and created two next-generation Data Centers for the Italian Army in the sites of Rome and Padua in a temporary collaboration with Cisco, which provides the switching and computing technology.

The two Data Centers, called NCV (nodes of concentration and virtualization), will allow the Italian Army to begin to update the technology infrastructure, thus enabling it to fully exploit the benefits of cloud computing in terms of consolidation and virtualization of computer applications, while ensuring the needs of security, privacy and confidentiality of the data processed.

We are proud to provide the Italian Army with our skills and system integration capabilities - said Stefano Pileri, Italtel CEO. Italtel has always been committed to developing those technological tools in the ICT sector which are now essential in making the Italian System competitive in order to ensure economic development and citizens quality of life. The paradigm of Cloud Computing - reinforced with next-generation IP networks, which can ensure safety and reliability of access, management and virtualization - is one of the key pieces of the path of innovation proposed by Italtel to businesses and government agencies.”

The consolidation of services within the NCV Data Centers will streamline the technology infrastructure within the Army by reducing physical servers and the complexity of network elements.

The new data centers thus created, allow the introduction of the concept of “continuity of Operational Services” through the provision of “Disaster Recovery” and “Business Continuity” policies which ensure service provision even in case of events that threaten the operation of the infrastructure.

The company, which has a long association with the Armed Forces, is back again to celebrate the “Military Forces Day” and teamed up with Cisco to set up a Wi-Fi area at the Circo Massimo where the event takes place.
