News Facts

Lakeland Electric (www.lakelandelectric.com/) , Florida's third largest public power utility, has selected Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management (www.oracle.com/us/industries/utilities/046897.html) and Oracle Service Bus (www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/service-bus/overview/index.html) to support its smart grid initiatives.

As a recipient of Federal funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), Lakeland Electric chose Oracle solutions to help manage the vast quantity of customer energy consumption data that it will gather from a deployment of 125,000 smart electric meters. The utility plans to use Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management to verify, store, process and format the data, providing every department, application and business process with the metering information it needs.
Further, the solution will enable Lakeland Electric to connect advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) usage data and presentment tools, helping to empower customers to effectively monitor and manage their energy use. The utility will use the energy usage data collected through smart meters for future time-of-use rate design.
