HOUSTON, April 5, 2010 - Acclaimed attorney Mark Lanier of The Lanier Law Firm
(www.lanierlawfirm.com/) has been selected by the editors of The
National Law Journal as one of "The Decade's Most Influential Lawyers."
Mr. Lanier is the only plaintiffs' attorney in the exclusive listing of
40 lawyers from across the United States whose work was deemed the most
consequential of the decade. The list appears in the March 29 edition of The
National Law Journal.
"I am very honored to be included among such an amazing group of
attorneys from so many different fields of practice," says Mr. Lanier.
"There's no way I would be included if it weren't for the hard work and legal
care provided by every attorney in our firm."
Mr. Lanier is one of four attorneys selected by the publication based on
their work in litigation matters.
Calling him a "superstar among plaintiffs' lawyers," the newspaper's
editors noted Mr. Lanier's success in the nation's first trial over the
popular pain medication Vioxx. The US$253.5 million verdict in that case is
recognized as the turning point in the national litigation over Vioxx, which
was ultimately resolved with a US$4.45 billion settlement for all Vioxx
users.
The article also notes Mr. Lanier's prominent role in the national
litigation against automobile manufacturer Toyota. Mr. Lanier represents more
than 1,000 individuals with claims against Toyota related to the company's
many vehicle recalls based on defective parts and other problems. Mr. Lanier
began this year by winning a US$56.3 million verdict against Caterpillar in
another defective vehicle case.
Mr. Lanier is a repeat honoree in The Best Lawyers in America and has
been named one of the nation's Top 10 trial lawyers in The National Law
Journal. He also has been recognized in the Texas Super Lawyers list as one
of the top attorneys in the state.

innovative solutions in courtrooms across the country. The firm is composed
