LONDON - Mayor Boris Johnson will outline his commitment to boosting the economic potential of London’s outer boroughs in a keynote address at Property Week’s Outer London Summit on 11th June 2009. He will reveal how outer London can play its full part in the city’s economic success and bolster the capital’s economic strength for generations to come.

Late in 2008 the Mayor formed the Outer London Commission; an expert body of industry leaders tasked with regenerating London’s 20 outer ‘forgotten’ boroughs and identifying key areas for immediate intervention. The Outer London Summit will bring together Mayor Boris Johnson, the Chair of the Commission Will McKee and property industry leaders to discuss how best the public and private sectors can work together to drive this new priority forwards. It will also provide an encouraging boost to the property industry suffering in the current economic climate and provide opportunities for developers and investors.

Industry leaders speaking at the event include senior representatives of Transport for London, the Homes and Communities Agency and Land Securities, as well as property industry figureheads including architect Sir Terry Farrell and Liz Peace, Chief Executive of the British Property Federation. They will reveal preliminary findings from their consultations, as well as outline plans moving forward and indicate the opportunities available to the private sector.

The Outer London Summit will be an important step in regenerating London’s outer boroughs and steering the capital through the current economic turmoil.
