MADISON, Wisconsin -
- Sonic Foundry only winning company based outside of Europe
Mediasite by Sonic Foundry, Inc., (Nasdaq: SOFO), the recognized market leader for rich media webcasting and knowledge management, has been named Best Webcast Platform in the inaugural Streaming Media European Readers’ Choice Awards. Sonic Foundry has the distinction of being the only winning company headquartered outside of Europe.
“Even though we emphasize companies based in Europe for these awards, it’s also important to recognize U.S.-based companies that have done a particularly good job of understanding and working in the European market. Clearly, Sonic Foundry is one of those companies, as this award demonstrates,” said Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen, Streaming Media editor.
The awards were established to honor the success of streaming technology and services companies fueling industry growth. Streaming Media received more than 200 nominations, and 5,500 votes were cast for the winners which were announced during the Streaming Media Europe Show in London this month.
“We have been fortunate to cultivate international partnerships with individuals, companies and institutions that match our passion for using technology to push the boundaries of sharing knowledge and information. This award not only honors Sonic Foundry, but those partners as well. We thank Streaming Media for this recognition, and thank everyone who voted for Mediasite,” said Rimas Buinevicius, chairman and CEO of Sonic Foundry.
While this is the first year for the European Awards, Streaming Media Magazine established a Readers’ Choice Awards program in the United States in 2007. Sonic Foundry won Best Webcast Platform and Best Webcasting Appliance in 2007 (www.sonicfoundry.com/smrca07), and Best Webcast Platform in 2008 (www.sonicfoundry.com/smrca08).
Since its introduction in 2003, Sonic Foundry’s webcasting platform and services have set the standard for delivering critical information and sharing knowledge online. Trusted by corporations, government and educational institutions, the patented Mediasite webcasting and content management system automates the capture, management, delivery and search of multimedia presentations that combine audio, video and accompanying graphics for live or on-demand viewing.
