npower Launches No Call Out Cash Back Service for Boiler Customers

WORCESTER, England, April 8, 2010 - npower, the UK's brightest energy company, launches a pioneering new
service that's set to shake up the industry whilst rewarding consumers.

hometeam 50 Boiler Care Flexi (hometeam 50) is billed as the fairest
boiler care cover
(www.npower.com/web/HometeamCare/index.htm#from=boilercare) giving
help to customers when they need it and money back if they don't use the
service.

If consumers don't call out npower's hometeam to work on their boiler
during the 12 month care plan npower will automatically return 50% of the
value of the cover plan to the customer on their year anniversary.

What's more - included in hometeam 50
(www.npower.com/web/hometeam/index.htm) an annual boiler service,
usually worth GBP74.

The service was devised after npower polled customers and found 78% said
they wanted cash back on cover plans which aren't claimed.

at GBP10.50 per month, exactly the same as British Gas' Homecare 100 product,
and offers the same cover - save for one important difference - npower

npower estimates that there are currently some four million British Gas
customers in Britain that could be missing out on a GBP252 million windfall.

But we know it can feel galling to pay out to protect a home appliance, like
a boiler, and never call upon the cover.

"We thought it was time the industry got a shake up - hence the launch of
hometeam 50. We hope this product launch will provide peace of mind to
customers - plus a great No Call Out Cash Back incentive.

"hometeam 50 is also a direct challenge to a market that is dominated by
British Gas, with a fair, open and rewarding product that's hard to better.

"We estimate that four million households are signed up to British Gas's
homecare products; that's 16.5% of homes in Britain who are potentially
losing out on a possible GBP252 million of cash-back."

This is a good and safe thing. Boiler explosions have had its share of victims in the past. Yet, will it be another annual service contract that will constrain my budget?
