Fast-Growing Browser Games Developer Now Reaches 20 Million Gamers and Starts Publishing Apps for Mobile Platforms

Online games developer Playa Games (www.playa-games.com) announced the release of the Android version of its hit fantasy game Shakes & Fidget. “This app is the first step of our mobile platforms strategy”, reports Playa Games CEO Hannes Beuck. Shakes & Fidget for Android is optimized for both smartphones and tablets and can be downloaded for free from the Android marketplace (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.playagames.shakesfidget).

The company expands into one of the fastest-growing platforms. Google’s Android marketplace crossed the 10 billion app downloads mark, with 25% in the ‘games’ category. The Shakes & Fidget app allows fans of the fantasy role-playing game to embark on quests, upgrade their equipment and participate in guild activities on the go. Players use the same login as with the browser game version (www.sfgame.us/) to continue playing with their existing online hero.

Next for Playa Games is an iOS version of the Shakes & Fidget app for iPhone and iPad. CEO Hannes Beuck also confirms that the company is planning apps for the company’s whole browser game line-up: “Obviously, we would like to enable our players to experience SoccerStar and Bloodmoon on mobile devices as well”.

The expansion into the dynamic mobile gaming market will help Playa Games keep up its aggressive pace of growth, which saw its customer base double within a year: “We started the year 2011 with 10 million players and just passed the 20 million mark”, reports Hannes Beuck. He primarily credits the outstanding graphics and gameplay for the success of Playa’s titles: “This continuous growth is the best sign that we’re on the right track with our corporate strategy to deliver games of the highest quality.”
