Jet fuel is supplied from Q8’s Milazzo refinery in Sicily, which is operated as a joint venture with ENI, and refined from Kuwait crude oil supplied by Q8Aviation’s parent company Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. Into plane services at Catania Airport are provided by Carboil.
Toby Simmons, Sales & Marketing Manager for Q8Aviation, says: ”We are delighted to win this important contract with easyJet at Catania which, together with our recent launch at Verona Airport, strengthens our portfolio of airports in Italy. By providing Kuwaiti fuel from our Milazzo refinery, this new service is in line with our strategy of strengthening our supply chain so that our customers can rely on an efficient and secure source of fuel from Q8.”
Catania Airport is located around four kilometres from Catania, Sicily’s second largest city. Recording more than six million passengers in 2010, it is Sicily’s largest airport. Q8Aviation already provides a jet fuel service at Palermo and Trapani airports in Sicily, and has a very strong presence in Italy with a network of 20 international and regional airports.
Q8Aviation is the world’s sixth largest supplier of aviation fuel. It provides jet fuel to around 200 airlines at more than 50 airports across Europe, Africa and Pacific Asia, in addition to offering its technical and operational expertise on a consultancy basis
Founded in 1983, Q8Aviation is part of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), the state oil company of Kuwait and one of the world’s largest oil producers. KPC’s backing gives Q8Aviation a unique fuel supply chain - ’safely from well head to wing tip’ - strengthened by its investment in import facilities at major European ports.
Q8Aviation was named Best Regional Marketer in Europe in the 2010 Armbrust Annual Survey.
