LONDON, May 12, 2010 - Songs from the soundtrack of the classic Rocky Films have been voted the
most motivational songs to run too for the fourth year in succession,
according to a poll of marathon runners by realbuzz.com
The survey, carried out before this year's Virgin London Marathon, asked
runners to name their favourite motivational tune as they trained for the
26.2 mile event. In the past four years of the survey realbuzz.com has seen a
consistent line up in the top 10, but this year saw 2 songs from the
soundtrack entering into the top 10. Eye of the Tiger by Survivor topped the
poll again but this year saw 'Gonna Fly Now' by Bill Conti shooting into the
top 10, Rocky films have obviously been watched by many as they have trained
for this iconic race, and have motivated runners to go the distance.
Chariots of Fire an old favourite remained in the top 10, as did Proud by
Heather Small and Kings of Leon dropped a couple of places with Sex on Fire.
A couple of new entries with Black Eyed Peas 'I gotta feeling' and Ron
Goodwin's The Trap ensues there is a good mix of new and old on runners'
MP3s.
"We are always interested to see what tunes have motivated our runner's
when they've trained for months. The tunes that runners have chosen all
demonstrate strong beats and rhythm, which always helps maintain a good
running pace," said realbuzz.com Managing Director Chris Twamley.
"Keeping fit by running can have a very positive impact on how people
feel about themselves and their lives, so keeping runners on their toes can
have big benefits."
