Recent research has revealed that baby bottles made from polycarbonate plastic (PC) may disperse Bisphenol A (BPA) into liquids. This molecule behaves like an endocrine disruptor. The exposure of babies to BPA may increase their predisposition to various types of cancer (breast cancer, prostate cancer, etc.), lead to reproductive problems, obesity, diabetes or thyroid dysfunction.

This is why at the start of 2008 Canada decided to prohibit the sale of all baby bottles containing Bisphenol A. The United States looks likely to follow suit, with a law currently under review. The main manufacturers of baby bottles containing BPA have already decided to withdraw them from sale in the United States.
