KEMA approval enables further deployment of Sixnet products in power substations and Smart Grid projects worldwide
BALLSTON LAKE, New York, January 20 - Sixnet, a global market leader of machine-to-machine (M2M) networking
solutions for industrial and wireless markets, today announced it has
achieved KEMA approval for its EL228 industrial Ethernet switch platform.
Sixnet recently completed the testing process at KEMA's testing laboratory in
the Netherlands.
KEMA is a globally-recognized leader in testing and certification for the
power and energy industry. The organization tests products to meet stringent
environmental and redundancy standards specific to the power and energy
industry, including IEC61850 and IEEE1613.
KEMA approval enables Sixnet to further deploy its rugged,
industrial-grade connectivity solutions in power substations for grid
modernization and Smart Grid projects throughout the world. The EL228 is the
only product in its class to combine the reliability, redundancy and
ruggedness required for demanding industrial environments with
enterprise-class networking capabilities.
"Achieving KEMA approval is a testament to the rugged characteristics and
intelligent, enterprise-class features of our industrial switching products,"
said Hilton Nicholson, president and CEO of Sixnet. "Sixnet has a long
history working with power and energy customers, and KEMA approval validates
that our products are designed and built to meet the demanding requirements
of this industry."
The EL228 is a 28 port (24 Fast Ethernet + 4G) industrial Ethernet
managed switch that provides customers with flexible copper and fiber
connectivity, LEDs, power/ground connections, console ports and bracket
positions on both the front and back of the switch. Its rugged design makes
the EL228 ideal for extreme environmental conditions, while providing a
variety of enterprise-class features including:
- Advanced cyber-security - Protects against unauthorized access - Fast redundancy - Keeps networks running even under fault conditions - Real-time message delivery - Ensures important data arrives on time - Enhanced multicasting - Optimizes network bandwidth - Powerful management and monitoring - Enables easy deployment and troubleshooting
