Company in Etten-Leur is an Authority in Corrugated Packaging
ETTEN-LEUR, the Netherlands, March 15, 2010 - Last year the Smurfit Kappa Group decided to integrate its factories in
Oudenbosch and Etten-Leur. A substantial investment was made to modernise the
factory in Etten-Leur. The integration is complete: there is now a single
plant which is fully prepared for the future. Newly named Smurfit Kappa
ELCORR (formerly known as Smurfit Kappa Oudenbosch Golfkarton) manufactures
corrugated board packaging throughout the Benelux for customers with high
product demands.
Unique achievements
The magnitude of Smurfit Kappa ELCORR's factory is unsurpassed in Europe.
A single corrugator at this advanced facility will produce 150 million m2 of
packaging annually. Achieving this new performance level is possible due to
the combination of a highly automated plant, its unique scale, and the
driving ambition of a skilled workforce. These ingredients make the company
one of Europe's best corrugated board factories.
Customer focus
With its new and efficient organisation Smurfit Kappa ELCORR focuses
primarily on (inter)national companies in the food industry. Because of
Etten-Leur's concentrated production capacity and force, Smurfit Kappa ELCORR
is able to accommodate customers' ever-increasing demands promptly. Food
safety, supply chain integration, zero-defect philosophy and greater insight
in customers' needs and wishes are vital elements in this process. Together,
large-scale production capacity and customer focus make the company the
Benelux reference for the multinational food & beverage industry.
Smurfit Kappa Group
Like 20 of its sister companies in The Netherlands, Smurfit Kappa ELCORR
is part of the Smurfit Kappa Group, whose international customers expect the
European market leader to demonstrate a highly advanced production process,
such as now realised in Etten-Leur. What's more, through the 360 companies
operating in 22 different countries globally, the Smurfit Kappa Group is not
only an established name in Europe, but worldwide as well. With approximately
40,000 employees and a turnover of EUR6 billion in 2009, the Smurfit Kappa
Group is world market leader in paper-based packaging.
