Communication service providers (CSPs) worldwide have a common need: the ability to create and deploy profitable, market-differentiating services in a matter of days or weeks rather than months. To meet that need, Telcordia, (Booth T05) a global leader in the development of Mobile, Broadband and Enterprise communications software and services, today announced Service Innovation for SDPs solution, which enables CSPs and their business partners to develop and deploy a new generation of voice, data and content services available to customers on multiple networks and devices and from the cloud.
Powered by the Telcordia® Converged Application Server, the Telcordia Service Innovation for SDPs solution is a key enabler of the Telcordia convergence strategy. This initiative provides the solutions that enable CSPs to offer voice, data and multimedia services that are converged across networks, access types, customer segments and screens. For example, CSPs and their solution partners can use the Telcordia Converged Application Server to create, deploy and support an interactive IPTV service personalized with public cloud-based social media content on TVs, PCs, tablets and smartphones.

The current extensibility framework from Telcordia enabled CSPs to use applications such as Telcordia® Real-Time Charging to launch mobile, entertainment, and converged services as frequently as every seven days. The new Telcordia Converged Application Server release expands this extensibility framework and its benefits further into the Telcordia Converged Applications suite including:
- Telcordia® Broadband Charging, an online charging system (OCS) designed to work alongside a CSP’s current prepaid and postpaid charging systems to enable innovative 3G and 4G plans, bundles and promotions.
- Telcordia® Bandwidth Manager, a converged policy and charging rules function (PCRF), GUI-based bandwidth management solution that integrates with the CSP’s network to create bandwidth-related rules on a per-service and per-subscriber basis.
- Number Translation, a set of call routing and management services that supports Free Phone, Universal Access, and Premium Rate for mobile and VoIP networks , to enable operators to target business users.
By providing a programmable JAVA-based Telecom Application Server and a suite of extensible Telcordia Converged Applications on a common platform, the Service Innovation for SDPs solution dramatically reduces capital and operational expenses compared to standalone solutions while enabling innovation across a CSP’s entire service plane.
The Telcordia Converged Application Server, 4.1, features a programmable JAVA-based Telecom ApplicationServerandApplication Studio, a next-generation toolkit combining a new, standards-based JAVA service-creation environment with Telcordia’s award-winning SPACE (service provisioning and creation environment). Telcordia Converged Application Server also now includes a new extensibility framework that extends Telcordia’s industry-leading flexibility to its suite of prebuilt Telcordia® Converged Applications. The new Telecom Application Sever and Application Studio enable true service innovation in an operator’s SDP or SDF by allowing CSPs and their partners to rapidly develop and deploy real-time, interactive and personalized services that attract and retain subscribers.
