LONDON, February 5 - Have you been Winkballed? Winkball reporters are known to everyone from
politicians to celebrities to rap stars and football fans. They're being
recruited from across the country and three months in - are now getting a
name for themselves.

Despite only launching WinkBall.com in August 2009 the website already
employs 50 reporters. They're based in London but can be sent anywhere around
the UK. There are 5 in the United States and the company's currently
recruiting for more video reporters in Manchester and the West Midlands.
If the public is interested then WinkBall will be at the event. Last year
WinkBall reporters covered London's Notting Hill Carnival, filming over 200
hours of interactive footage to create a giant on line archive of Europe's
biggest street party. They've also been to festivals and Premier League and
Championship football matches. Winkball is the UK's fastest growing video
communications website, and it hopes to shake up the dominance of traditional
broadcasters with its own brand of citizen video.

Winkball is a new interactive online broadcast network, the WinkBall
reporters' remit is to record and broadcast the public's agenda. If the man
on the street has got a view then WinkBall wants to hear what it is. WinkBall
reporting is quick, flexible - and there's no spin!

Winkball.com is celebrating an amazing few months. More than 500,000
people the length and breadth of Britain and as far away as New York are
loving Winkball.com. The site gives you the chance to have your say and see
what other people think too. Everyone's talking about it and It's grabbed the
attention of high profile figures including David Cameron and Joan Collins,
JLS and Gary Linekar.

Co-founder of WinkBall, Dr James Ohene-Djan said: "Our reporters include
some of the best in the business and they're excellent at getting to the
heart of what the public's really thinking and feeling. Going to WinkBall.com
gives you a window on the world. As we add to the thousands of video walls we
already host on the site more and more subjects are being covered. You can go
to our website as a viewer, or you can go to the website to participate.
WinkBall wants to encourage anyone who wants to record and share their views.
If you've got an opinion we'd like to encourage you to express it. That's
what Citizen Video is all about. It's a real alternative to existing
broadcast models, enabling the public to create and respond to stories in a
way they've never been able to do before."

WinkBall.com is part of the WinkBall Project and offers users a range of
free video communications services, including video messaging, video
blogging, and public and private group video walls.

Interactivity is the name of the game. WinkBall reporters canvas
opinions, but if you don't see one of them about you can record a message
yourself via a web cam, or upload your comments to one of the many video
walls on the site.

The current Love Britain campaign is asking people what's great about
Britain and the top three so far are the people, the weather and the
countryside, with democracy, freedom of speech and our multi cultural society
high on the Agenda. The technology is cutting edge and its British. It's the
brainchild of creative computer scientist Dr James Ohene-Djan, of Goldsmiths
College in London and Correspondent.com and is the first integrated video
communications service based on video messaging and the latest social
networking phenomenon to come out of a university campus . Winkball
Co-Founder Dr. James Ohene-Djan commented: "We want to encourage as many
people as possible to get online, come to the site and record their opinions.
WinkBall.com is giving the UK a video voice which is changing the way we view
news and share our opinions and feelings,"
