Tishman Construction Leads the World in Sustainable Construction
Knowledge
Tishman Construction has built, or is now building, the world's most
innovative sustainable projects, including 7 World Trade Center, the first
commercial office tower in New York City to achieve LEED Gold certification;
1 World Trade Center, which will be New York City's tallest tower at 1,776
feet and which is pursuing LEED Gold certification; One Bryant Park in New
York City, the first skyscraper in the world designed and built to LEED
Platinum standards; and CityCenter, MGM MIRAGE's and Dubai World's
18-million-square-foot hotel, casino and retail complex in Las Vegas, which
has achieved LEED Gold certification.
Tishman also built the American Pharmacists Association's headquarters in
Washington DC and is working on the U.S. Food & Drug Administration's
5.5-million-square-foot headquarters consolidation project in Maryland, where
the company recently completed Building #1. The two projects were designed to
LEED Silver standards. However, Tishman and the design team pursued
additional LEED points on both buildings so that they both achieved LEED Gold
certification at no extra cost to the owner.
Tishman Contributing Sustainable Expertise to United Arab Emirates
Tishman has operations in Abu Dhabi, where the Tourism Development &
Investment Company (TDIC) chose Tishman to provide project management and
cost consulting services for the Angsana Resort and Spa–Eastern Mangroves,
an environmentally sensitive project. Tishman is currently providing quantity
surveys, and design and schedule consultation.
The resort will deliver a world-class lifestyle and tourist destination
that will contribute to the preservation of the valuable Eastern Mangrove
area. Designed in line with strict eco-guidelines, the resort ethos is
sensitive to both the eco-balance of the natural mangroves and its guests'
desires. As part of TDIC's extensive mangrove rejuvenation program, Tishman
is managing the planting of more than 20,000 new seedlings.
TDIC also selected Tishman to provide project management and cost
consulting services for the Abu Dhabi Golf Resort, where Tishman is providing
quantity surveys, and design and schedule consultation. At the destination's
heart will be the 146-room, five-star Westin Hotel & Spa; meeting facilities
for up to 400 people; ballroom, conference and board rooms and business
centre; a 27-hole championship golf course, academy and clubhouse; pool and
gymnasium; squash courts; and a tennis academy.
