Torchmark Corporation Elects New Director

MCKINNEY, Texas, March 1, 2010 - Torchmark Corporation (NYSE: TMK) announced that Darren M. Rebelez,
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of 7-Eleven, Inc., was
elected to its Board of Directors on February 25, 2010. A California native
and Texas resident, Mr. Rebelez holds a B.S. degree in General Engineering
from the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY and a M.B.A. from
the University of Houston. At 7-Eleven, he is responsible for eight regional
operating divisions and over 6,000 convenience stores in North America. He
previously held executive positions at ExxonMobil Corporation and Thornton
Oil Corporation, working with franchising and their convenience store chains.
