1 in 3 Brits on Social Networks get Scared Every Time a Friend Uploads Photos of Them on Social Networking Sites
LONDON, March 1, 2010 - It's a feeling that can strike dread into even the strongest of us. It is
the morning after the night before and we rush to our computers to see how
bad the damage truly was.
At least, that's according to new research conducted by Lab Series
Skincare for men, which shows one third of Brits who have profiles on social
networks get anxious when people post photos of them online because they may
not look their best.
Understandably a similar number of people on social networks (32%)
believe social media sites increase Brits' vanity as they become worried
about all of their photos, rather than using it to keep in contact with
friends and up-to-date with their news.
Men are far less anxious than women when it comes to bad photos posted
online (just 20% of men compared with 42% of women). Ladies are twice as
likely to ask someone to remove a photo of them that they weren't entirely
pleased with (16% vs. 6% of men) or just go ahead and un-tag the offending
photo themselves (21% vs. 9% of men).
But almost half of men are concerned about their looks fading (45%).
They're more likely than women to have older photos that show them in their
prime with fuller heads of hair or less wrinkly faces (men's profile pictures
are on average 18 months old, compared with those of women which are under 15
months old).
Whether they are actively retouching photos before uploading them on
social networking sites like Facebook, Bebo and LinkedIn, or going through
full moisturising routines to ensure their skin always looks its best, men
are going to greater lengths to avoid photo anxiety.
The research inspired Lab Series Skincare for Men to challenge their
research scientists to develop the ultimate anti-ageing product for men - Max
LS Age-Less Face Cream. The Lab Series research scientists looked to the
science behind skin "longevity genes", called Sirtuins. When these longevity
genes are activated, they can trigger skin cells to live longer so they can
naturally repair damage.
Inspired by this science the scientists created Max LS Age-Less Face
Cream containing the Molecular Age-less Complex to help repair the look of
the signs of ageing as well as help skin slow down the rate at which the skin
appears to age.
"Lab Series is the authority in men's skincare" says Richard Sawyer,
Spokesperson for Lab Series. "To maintain that authority, we are continually
dedicated to researching high tech, high performance formulas that delivery
proven results".
Max LS Age-Less Face Cream is available from 1st March nationwide (RRP
GBP45).
Note to Editor - Richard Sawyer, Spokesperson and International Education
Director is available for interview.
