Wipro Technologies Provides Android OS-Based Commercialization Services on Texas Instruments OMAP(TM) Processor

Collaboration With TI Builds on the Successful Engagement to Address the Connected Devices Sector
BANGALORE, India, February 16, 2010 - Wipro Technologies, the global IT Services business of Wipro Limited
(NYSE:WIT) today announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that it
has engaged with Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) to offer services on the
OMAP(TM) processors at the MWC. The services - which include Linux baseport,
Android operating system (OS) porting on hardware platforms, middleware,
third-party component integration, application development, and operator
customization - will address commercialization requirements for OEMs
designing on Android, ensuring fast time to market.
TI's OMAP 4 platform, based on dual-core ARM(R) Cortex(TM)-A9 foundation,
supports the next range of robust multimedia for mobile devices. The platform
drives High Definition (HD), 1080p video playback and supports multiple
displays, to name a few capabilities. The OMAP 4 platform addresses power and
processing requirements of the next-generation connected devices expected to
hit store shelves by 2011.
Wipro's expertise in this domain as a System Integrator has helped TI's
customers realize cost efficiency and faster deployment of applications on
their products.
