A Question of Sport
By Wotif.com, PRNESunday, April 11, 2010
LONDON, April 12, 2010 - Global online accommodation specialist Wotif.com (www.wotif.com)
has added another franchise to its portfolio of sports teams from around the
World. This time the company has taken over as the main shirt sponsor of the
Belfast Trojans who play in Ireland's long-established Irish American
Football League.
The multi-year contract sees Wotif serve as the team's major sponsor
until at least the 2012 season. Trojans Head Coach Brandon Cook says: "The
entire team is really excited about having Wotif.com as our sponsor and we're
looking forward to all of the opportunities it will bring the club!"
Wotif's Executive General Manager for Europe & The Americas Matthew
Harris was also pleased to finally be able to announce the relationship:
"This agreement has been in the works for a good few months and it's great to
finally be able to make this announcement. Brandon and his team are a great
group of guys and have been really responsive to all of our suggestions. It
will be a pleasure to work with them as they set their sights on the club's
first Irish Superbowl title."
These suggestions include the team's new microsite
www.trojansontour.com - which has been well received by both players
and supporters - and the offer of promotions and prizes throughout the
season.
But what does any of this have to with selling hotel rooms online?
Matthew Harris explains: "We see sports teams as an excellent way to
introduce Wotif.com to communities that we are looking to work with. We are a
global company but we have product managers and offices all over the world
and we really do like to work with our hotels and regions in a more hands-on,
face-to-face manner. Our work with sports teams has so far been well received
and it's far more enjoyable than just sticking a poster on the side of a
bus!"
The Trojans join London City (www.londoncityaway.ca), a soccer
team from Canada, and the Northern Raiders (www.raidersontheroad.com),
a New York-based rugby team, in sporting the green and blue Wotif.com logo
this coming season.
