LONDON, August 16, 2011 -

CCH the world’s largest provider of tax and accounting information, software and services, part of global information group Wolters Kluwer, has launched its Accountancy live news magazine app in the iTunes app store.

It was developed by teams in the UK, Spain and Italy.

Andy Price, production editor, CCH magazines, who led the development team, said: “This is an important step in the digital future of Accountancy and we have exciting plans for the brand as we continue our drive to make Accountancy the leading source of news, analysis and comment for finance professionals across multiple platforms.”

His comments were echoed by Accountancy editor Sara White: “The News App is a great addition to the Accountancy portfolio and will really support our print and digital objectives over the next few months.”

The free app boasts quick navigation through pages and sections, breaking news, email, Facebook and Twitter share capabilities alongside save stories in favourites capabilities, enlarge and reduce font size options as well as add notes functionality.

The company recently announced it will relaunch the magazine in January 2012. Building on its 122 years of publication as a successful paper-based journal, Accountancy will also be made available on a number of new platforms, reflecting the growing desire by professionals to consume their news and information in digital formats. The magazine’s website launch by Wolters Kluwer in 2006 has already proved successful.

Wolters Kluwer will widen Accountancy’s content to appeal to a broader range of professionals working within and alongside the tax and accountancy sector. It will also strengthen the magazine’s technical content by drawing on CCH’s world-class information, which is widely used by the accounting profession in the UK and across the world.

Cathy Wolfe, CEO of Wolters Kluwer UK, says: “The strong growth of Wolters Kluwer’s digital publishing means that we see a great future for Accountancy magazine on multiple platforms. We plan to take the journal in new directions, to meet the evolving needs of accountants and a wider group of finance professionals.

“The relaunch will follow the ending of the current 10-year contract under which Accountancy has been published by CCH as the official journal of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. This publishing association is ending by mutual agreement, allowing Wolters Kluwer and ICAEW each to pursue their respective publishing plans.”
