Integration to Enable Both Forensic and Automated Real-Time Detection of Physical Security and Safety Issues in Surveillance Video
CAMBRIDGE, England and SUNNYVALE, California, January 26 - Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in
infrastructure software for the enterprise, and Vidient Systems, Inc., the
pioneer for intelligent video surveillance solutions, today announced a
strategic partnership to develop and market next-generation intelligent video
surveillance solutions for both real-time detection of physical security
breaches and rapid forensics analysis of video to find critical information
for public safety. As part of the agreement, Autonomy will distribute
Vidient's SmartCatch software suite as part of its solutions in the physical
security market.
The combined offering, powered by Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating
Layer (IDOL) and Vidient's SmartCatch software, will deliver next-generation
solutions that automatically understand, without the need for human
monitoring, a broad range of suspicious and threatening activities on video.
The offering then automatically alerts appropriate personnel in real-time to
immediately address such security issues, thereby transforming video
surveillance from passive monitoring to active intervention. At the same
time, the new combined solution will also enable rapid searches of massive
hours of video for specific instances of security breaches that would
otherwise consume enormous amounts of human effort and time to discover, if
at all.
"With Autonomy as a strategic partner, leveraging their unique Meaning
Based Computing technology, we will substantially augment our video
surveillance solutions to provide our customers with the world-class
solutions they need to provide state-of-the-art physical security
protection," said Frank Pao, CEO, Vidient. "These solutions will deliver
exponentially more functionality, both by offering additional capabilities
such as license plate recognition and by providing a forensics application to
effectively and rapidly search and retrieve valuable information at critical
times when security and safety are threatened."
"By incorporating Vidient's intelligent video applications into our
product line, we believe that we can offer our customers physical security
options well in advance of current systems," said Stouffer Egan, CEO,
Autonomy, Inc. "By partnering with Vidient, who is focused on providing
best-in-class solutions specifically targeted for these types of industries,
Autonomy continues to expand market share by providing cutting-edge Meaning
Based Computing technology for all forms of media, including video for
security and surveillance. Given the safety and security issues in our
society today and in the foreseeable future, we believe this will be a
rapidly growing area where we can now provide a truly real-time, actionable
solution."
