LONDON - Specialist provider of residential support services for people living with Autism and other Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Brookdale Care has announced that the 23-year-old Manager of its Eynesbury House care home, Andrew Fairman, has become the youngest ever person to achieve the NVQ Level 4 Leadership and Management for Care Services Award.

The NVQ Level 4 Award, formerly known as the Registered Managers Award, is designed to provide Home Managers with the vital skills and knowledge required to run a home and care for people with complex needs. Those studying the course are required to undertake independent research on the legislation underpinning the social care sector and consider alternative treatment methods that may allow them to better care for service users.

Lesa Walton, Brookdale’s Care & Development Director, said today:

“Brookdale always places great emphasis upon training and the professional development of all our staff. Andrew’s achievements at such a young age are a testament to both Brookdale’s commitment to training and, of course, to Andrew’s dedication and passion for his work.

“Over the last seven years Andrew has continuously proven himself to be of tremendous support to Brookdale service users. His journey from joining Brookdale as a Support Worker to becoming a fully qualified Home Manager demonstrates the vast number of opportunities that are open to dedicated people who join the care sector in general, and Brookdale Care in particular.”

Andrew Fairman, Manager of Eynesbury House care home, said today:

“I am so thankful to Brookdale Care for encouraging me to achieve this award and to grow and flourish as a care professional. I love working with adults with ASD as no day is the same. Every service user is unique in their needs and I love the challenge of finding the right tools that unlocks their full potential and increases their level of independence.

“The thrill of achieving success is second to none and the sense of pride you can draw from helping a service user is incredibly rewarding. I now hope to utilise all of the skills and knowledge that I have gained in working towards this award and apply them to the running of Eynesbury House in order to exceed the standards of excellence that Brookdale so values.”
