On Your Marks: Parents and schools Internet dash to sign up 50,000 kids for free school cover

Leading Irish insurance broker Chill Insurance will tomorrow launch an unprecedented free school insurance scheme that will send pupils back to school in first-class form.

Chill Insurance is giving away free personal accident insurance policies to 50,000 primary school pupils across Ireland.

Believed to be the first free accident insurance scheme of its kind in Europe, the online initiative at www.chill.ie will ensure that every child in Ireland is properly catered for with personal accident insurance.

The race to be included in the 50,000 free insurance policies will begin on online tomorrow morning as parents and schools log on to www.chill.ie to register their details.

Chill Insurance is offering free personal accident cover for all activities organised in schools, including travelling to and from schools.

There will also be an option for parents and schools to pay €3 for 24 hour cover for children.

The incredible giveaway covers children who are participating in any activities authorised or organised by their school and whilst travelling directly to and from school and home within Ireland.

Chill Insurance has eliminated the hassle associated with insurance shopping in Ireland over the past four years and provides consumers with a range of over 14 quotes, from the main insurers, for motor, household, travel, life and other insurance products.

The company, based in Blackrock, Co. Dublin, has 40 years of broker heritage and an online presence since 2007.

Commenting on the new schools initiative, the first of its kind in Ireland, Chill Insurance’s personal lines manager Jo Fernandez said: “School Insurance is regarded as an unwelcome overhead, but parents and schools can be exposed to considerable financial damage if adequate insurance protection is not in place”.

“So at Chill Insurance, we have decided to give free personal accident insurance to pupils in Ireland. In return, we hope people will log on to www.chill.ie and allow us to impress with our rates, service and advice for motor, travel and life insurance.”
