One of the world's largest law firms uses webcasting to connect 29 offices in 20 countries
MADISON, Wisconsin, July 28, 2010 - Sonic Foundry, Inc. (Nasdaq: SOFO), the recognized market leader for rich
media webcasting and knowledge management, today announced Clifford Chance,
one of the world's leading law firms, has selected Mediasite for corporate
communication, legal training and legal briefs.
Clifford Chance has offices in 20 countries and 3,200 legal advisers
globally. The firm had been relying on videoconferencing for communication
with its professional workforce and clients. But with no easy way to record
or archive the content, the IT department at Clifford Chance was challenged
to find a more cost- and time-effective solution for disseminating
information. Enter Mediasite.
"During our selection process, which was carried out with key business
sponsors, procurement and technology teams, we discovered that Mediasite
definitely offered the cleanest presentation and online delivery, and best
met all our requirements," said Anthony Vigneron, global collaboration
services manager at Clifford Chance.
According to Vigneron, the time savings that Mediasite offers in the
creation of content is invaluable. "Our quarterly employee address is a good
example. In the old days, if we had to edit the tape of the videoconference,
it would take a minimum of five days to turn around the content. Now we
publish it 15 to 20 minutes after the event. Even better, we can do it in
real time as well, reaching out to all our offices globally," said Vigneron.
Various business services within Clifford Chance have been using
Mediasite to record and webcast presentations to both internal and external
audiences. Vigneron's teams have streamlined the process so the business
services can easily book the Mediasite Recorders, reserve the rooms and
organize their recordings. "With Mediasite, we were able to create a workflow
so that IT staff doesn't need to get involved in the publishing of content.
We provide the Mediasite webcasting platform and presenters do what they
want, when they want. We give them some guidelines, templates and other
professional support, but it's their content," said Vigneron.
"One of the key benefits we wanted to achieve was to centralize all of
our video content which is created around the world, and make it available to
our global staff and external audience, on-demand or in real-time. That's
actually quite a good success story for Mediasite," he continued.
"Clifford Chance's international deployment of Mediasite underscores the
growing need for modern businesses to bridge time and distance," said Rimas
Buinevicius, chairman and CEO of Sonic Foundry. "By making it easier for any
presenter to record and stream their information to a live audience or for
review on-demand, Clifford Chance is increasing both the reach and frequency
of company information, helping to align company goals, forge new connections
and unify their global audience."
