Earth Council Geneva Nominates Dr. Giovanni Eduardo Picone as a new Board Member

GENEVA, October 11, 2011 -

Earth Council Geneva (ECG) is proud to announce that Dr. Giovanni Eduardo Picone is joining its ranks as a new Board member, working with other distinguished members such as Musaed Al Saleh, Lucas Assunçao, José-Maria Figueres, Christine Novakovic, Mohammed Sahnoun, Paul Stern and Chairman Reto Braun.

Giovanni Picone comes from an impressive background, having graduated from the University of Naples, Italy with a Degree in Law, and practicing as an attorney since 1986, as well as being admitted to the ranks of Special Attorneys in 2004. Dr. Picone is listed in the National Register of Journalists, and has worked with major newspapers such as “IL POPOLO”, “IL CORRIERE DELLO SPORT”, and “IL MATTINO”. He authored several books on a variety of topics including art, history and fiction. He is a member of the Commission of Cultural initiatives of the Council of the Bar of Naples since 2008.

Since 2006 Dr. Picone has been president of the  Earth Council Italia. On behalf of the Earth Council Organizations he obtained “Observer Status” to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP)

Dr. Picone is a member of the International Commission under the patronage of the United Nations for the protection of the environment and the study of  biodiversity and climate change. He has been legal representative for the American firms TESCF and FOJF, which, focusing primarily on human rights and humanitarian activities, provides insight to Dr. Picone’s social interests and responsibilities.

Earth Council Geneva (ECG) is a Non Profit, Non Government Organization founded in 2002. Initially ECG helped to raise world- wide awareness of environmental issues through state-of-the-art e-learning courses with students in over 80 countries. The organization now is focusing on providing fresh water to needy children in underdeveloped countries. The partnership with IMC (International Medical Corps)is making it possible to implement such projects.
