Customizable Quiz Apps for iPhone(R) and iPod touch(R) Help Students Build Nursing Knowledge
PHILADELPHIA, November 18, 2010 - Elsevier (www.elsevier.com/wps/find/homepage.cws_home), the
leading publisher of scientific, technical and medical information products
and services, today announced that the new HESI QuizMe app series for nursing
students is available from the Apple App Store. These apps familiarize
nursing students with clinically based scenarios, health problems and case
studies commonly encountered in the nursing profession.
"Mobile technology provides an effective new training channel for health
care students, and we are pleased to expand Elsevier's portfolio of apps with
the HESI QuizMe series," said Ainslie Nibert, PhD, RN, vice-president, HESI
Review & Testing. "Every time a user engages with the HESI QuizMe series, for
a five minute session or for an hour, it's an opportunity to get better
acquainted with the core nursing concepts that will carry these students
through their careers."
The series addresses four key areas of nursing practice: maternity,
medical-surgical, pediatrics, and psychiatric. Multiple apps within each
specialty area drill down on core concepts to deliver focused review and
skill building. Four HESI QuizMe medical-surgical apps are now available:
Cardiovascular & Respiratory; Gastrointestinal & Genitourinary;
Musculoskeletal, Neurological, & Eye/Ear; and Hepatic, Hemo & Endo.
Additional apps in the series are forthcoming.
Each HESI QuizMe application provides a robust, customizable quizzing and
assessment experience that includes:
- A multiple choice question library - Statistics highlighting quiz performance - Question browser for un-scored practice and review of questions - Optional question timer to help establish pace - Bookmarking to save questions for further review
The HESI QuizMe app series by Elsevier is designed specifically for
iPhone and iPod touch, in partnership with Modality, a premier developer of
medical reference and learning apps for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
These apps are available for $4.99 each from the App Store at
