MANCHESTER, England, May 26, 2010 - First Personal Injury's team of personal injury claims (
www.firstpersonalinjury.co.uk/) solicitors has called for more GP
accountability following the recent compensation payout to the family of a
man killed by an overdose. David Gray was administered an accidental overdose
of a painkilling drug by a GP in 2008. His family have recently been awarded
GBP40,000 in compensation.

First Personal Injury Managing Partner, Michael Jefferies, believes that
GPs and medical staff should be regularly assessed in order to prevent such
tragedies, commenting that, "Medical negligence is unacceptable on any level.
Medical professionals have people's lives in their hands on a daily basis and
should therefore be regularly assessed to make sure they're definitely still
up to the job."

Michael acknowledges that such a procedure would undoubtedly be costly,
but believes it's a necessary expense.

"Of course, ongoing assessment of all NHS medical professionals would
mean a big bill to the taxpayer. But consider the cost of compensation
payouts at present. Reducing the cases of death, injury or illness caused by
medical negligence or incompetence will reduce the costs of compensation
payouts too."

First Personal Injury specialises in helping those injured in an accident
that was not their fault to claim the compensation they deserve.
