Gauthier Louette Appointed Chairman and CEO of SPIE

PARIS, January 8 - The Group's Board of Directors has appointed Gauthier Louette
Chairman and Chief Executive Office of SPIE as from January 1st, 2010.

Following the retirement of SPIE's Chairman, Jean Monville, on
31 December 2009, the Group's Board of Directors has appointed Gauthier
Louette as Chairman and CEO in its meeting held on 18 December.

Gauthier Louette is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique. He
started his career with SPIE in 1986 as a site engineer. Promoted project
manager in 1992, and subsequently operations manager in 1993, he was
appointed CEO of SPIE Capag in 1998 and Director of the Oil and Gas Branch of
SPIE Energie Services in 2000. He became CEO of SPIE in 2003.
