Innovators Wanted: Schweighofer Prize Starts Call for Proposals

EUR 300,000 for Innovations in Favour of the European Forest Based Sector

VIENNA, Austria, November 3, 2010 - Up from November 1, 2010 the Austrian Schweighofer Family Invites
Innovative People to Submit Proposals for Schweighofer Prize 2011. The
Prestigious Schweighofer Prize is Endowed With EUR 300,000.

The Schweighofer Prize was funded in 2002 by the Austrian Schweighofer
family who owns one of the leading woodworking companies in Europe.

The Schweighofer Prize is endowed with EUR 300,000. It addresses
visionary people with spirit of research who want to present their innovative
ideas for a sustainable and competitive Forest Based Sector in Europe. The
scope of topics covers the whole Forest-Wood-Chain, including cooperation,
services and training. Only pulp and paper issues are excluded.

The jury of the Schweighofer Prize puts specific emphasis on the European
dimension of the candidate's achievements and focuses on applied research and
development projects. An interdisciplinary co-operation between science and
industry is also advantageous.

The call for submissions is open from November 1, 2010 to February 2,
2011.

The prize money is divided between one Main Prize and several Innovation
Prizes.

The Main Prize pays tribute to people or organisations that play an
important role in the European Forest Based Sector. Their outstanding
achievements have already set milestones and are an example for pioneering
spirit and sense for future challenges.

The Innovation Prizes serve as an impetus for innovative projects in an
early stage of implementation.

The prize winners will be awarded in June 16, 2011 in Vienna/Austria.

The event will especially refer to the International Year of Forests
2011.
