A Leaders Roundtable, 24 November 2009, Radisson Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka Bangladesh

GENEVA, November 11 - Despite substantial progress, rates of child malnutrition in
Bangladesh are among the highest in the world. More than 36 percent of
preschool-age children are stunted, 46 percent are underweight and 16 percent
are wasted. Bangladeshi children also suffer from high rates of micronutrient
deficiencies, particularly vitamin A, iron, iodine and zinc. 21.7 percent of
preschool age children are vitamin A deficient, 47 percent are anemic.

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) fights
malnutrition by building public-private partnerships to get healthier foods
and supplements to those people most at risk. GAIN provides technical and
financial support to national partnerships to fortify staple foods and
condiments. Improving nutrition is crucial to survival as well as physical
and cognitive development and productivity.

Join the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition and its partners
from the business community, NGOs and international organizations to find
solutions to improve the future of Bangladeshi children. During these panel
discussions we will showcase how school feeding programs can be a step
towards achieving nutrition security and how the business community can
engage in the fight against malnutrition.

Just recently I’ve looked around for a bit of knowledge about Eukanuba. Is it true that the base is comprised of soya? Obviously there’s other ingredients like meat in it, but that doesn’t sound like a good start.
