Portaltech & Bombay Duck Shortlisted for Prestigious ECMOD Direct Commerce Award
By Portaltech, PRNESunday, April 3, 2011
LONDON, April 4, 2011 - We are thrilled to announce that our eCommerce client: Bombay Duck, have
been shortlisted for up to two prestigious ECMOD Direct Commerce Awards, for
the re-launch and re-platform of their gift retail website:
www.bombayduck.co.uk.
Bombay Duck is characterised by individuality and passion; a brand set up
to offer collections of exclusively designed and quirky colourful gifts,
homewares and accessories, that are great quality and good-humoured. Founded
and established by one sister in 1993, Bombay Duck is now managed by a 2nd
sister Laura Bates, whose team designs product in London and manufactures
product all over the world.
Bombay Duck approached Portaltech because they required a best of breed
eCommerce platform that would manage all their product and content data and
which would support both B2C and B2B sides of their business.
Portaltech re-platformed Bombay Duck on an integrated eCommerce platform
by hybris, using Portaltech's QuickLive commerce accelerator module. The site
went live in May 2010 and is currently trading 62% up YOY and has increased
it's B2B customer base by 25% YOY.
Bombay Duck's in-house team are now able to manage multiple channels
(catalogue, call centre and their B2B and B2C online businesses) with one
Content Management System, but can personalise and target their B2B and B2C
customers separately.
As the majority of Bombay Duck's Business customers were trading their
own businesses during the day, the company wanted their customers to be able
to view or order quickly and easily from the whole range online, out of
office hours. The re-platform and new design features a bespoke trade landing
page, with 'starter' offers, features on new product or range launches and
targeted B2B promotions. Business customers can also place orders online,
'quick order' previous orders or ranges, view credit limits, print invoices
and manage their account information. The site can also back order, advise
when products are back in stock & display delivery status information by
product line.
Laura Bates, MD of Bombay Duck commented "We are delighted with the
QuickLive/hybris platform and thrilled to be nominated for an ECMOD award.
Having one site for both our B2B and B2C customer groups which is fully
integrated with our accounting system and call centre module, has improved
our efficiency and consistency and most importantly has provided our
customers with a fantastic user experience."
From an internal perspective, Bombay Duck's team are able to update and
manage all product information on the website and have the ability to create
a variety of engaging and commercial promotions targeted at their B2B or B2C
client base, or even manage bespoke pricing.
Rachel Wilkinson, Head of Brand & Retail at Portaltech is impressed by
the company's progress since launch: "Bombay Duck were focused on creating a
market beating website, that had superior customer usability whether you were
a consumer or a Business customer. We worked closely with Bombay Duck's
commerce and marketing teams, advising and suggesting ideas to optimise their
site and improve customer engagement and communications. I am really pleased
that Bombay Duck are getting recognised for the huge amount of work and
effort they have put into transforming and trading their online operations
over the last year. It is wonderful to watch our client's businesses grow and
evolve as they start reaping the rewards. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed
for Bombay Duck on Wednesday, at the Ecmod Awards."
This latest nomination builds on a successful year for Portaltech in
2010, who won 5 awards and who also have another client, Thompson & Morgan
also nominated for an ECMOD award.
