Informa is Launching PRIME, a new Peer-Reviewed Journal Devoted to the Rapidly Growing and Evolving Fields of Aesthetics and Anti-Ageing Medicine.
LONDON, March 22, 2011 - Informa - the leading publishers of medical, scientific and business
journals - is unveiling PRIME, a new international peer-reviewed publication
which has been designed to fill the need for quality scientific research and
information on the rapidly growing and continually evolving Anti-Ageing and
Aesthetics market.
By 2050, more than 30% of the population in OECD member countries will be
over 60 years old - a dramatic increase from the 17% at the start of the 21st
century. That extreme demographic shift comes with increased focus on how to
care for the elderly as well as shining the spotlight on slowing or reversing
the effects of ageing.
PRIME is aimed at Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeons, dermatologists,
anti-aging practitioners, and physicians in the aesthetics and anti-ageing
industry. Informa's new journal is, indeed, in a prime position to support,
galvanise and lead debate and development in these markets.
"We have worked across the board to create a journal that provides
anti-ageing professionals and suppliers with a highly effective
communications forum to learn, discuss, understand and implement the latest
applications and technologies shaping the industry," says Claude Dalle,
Editor-in-Chief of the new journal.
"Each month's issue of PRIME will provide readers and users with access
to cutting-edge peer-reviewed research, up-to-date news and information,
exclusive data, examples and case studies, and a thorough examination of the
global issues which surround the market," continues Dalle.
PRIME is being published in a monthly print version as well as a
continually updated online version which will allow for breaking news and
up-to-the-minute research.
"Take up of aesthetic procedures in the US increased more than five-fold
in the 10 years to 2007," says Simon Percival, Publisher of PRIME at Informa
Healthcare. "This trend is similar in most other developed markets and, at
the same time, anti-aging medicine has emerged as a new specialty which
focuses on understanding and controlling the biological process of ageing.
Research house, Global Industry Analysts predicts that this sector could be
worth almost $300 billion within the next five years. That's close to half
the size of the current global pharmaceuticals market."
Research is this area is not all about beauty and finding the fountain of
youth. Major aims are to prevent disease, control factors that promote the
occurrence of disease and promote a long and healthy lifespan.
"PRIME will cover all aspects of the aesthetics and anti-ageing market
from non-surgical treatments like Botox to ground-breaking research in fields
such as neurology and endocrinology," continues Percival. "The journal will
build on Informa's core strengths in serving the clinical medicine market and
ensure that PRIME - from day one - is the must-read publication in the
aesthetics and anti-ageing market.
PRIME will be attending the Anti-Ageing Medical Worldwide Conference in
Monaco 24-26 March 2011. You can visit PRIME on Stand D3.
