DAKAR, Senegal, February 14, 2011 - On the initiative of President Abdoulaye Wade, Senegal is
organizing the second edition of the International Dakar Agricultural Forum
on 18th and 19th April 2011 at the Meridien President Hotel in Dakar.

A month before the G20 agricultural meetings, heads of state,
ministers, farmers and experts from across the globe will meet in Dakar to
discuss regulation and global agricultural governance.

The event is organized in collaboration with the MOMAGRI
Think-tank, (Mouvement pour une Organisation Mondiale de l'Agriculture(1)),
To answer the fundamental questions currently faced by the international
community:

    - Under which principles can we regulate agricultural markets
to prevent food crises and avoid repeated agricultural crises?

    - What instruments and international cooperation should be put
to use to improve food security and fight poverty?

    - On what grounds can we create a new global governance that
will make agriculture, food and environmental preservation top
    priorities?

The conclusions that emerge from this Forum will undoubtedly
form an essential pillar for international negotiations during the G20 summit
chaired by France.

The Forum will also support the international commitment to
strengthen "the role and the voice of the countries of the South in global
governance."

His Excellency Mr. Khadim Gueye, Senegal's Minister of
Agriculture, is scheduled to discuss this issue with his counterparts during
the Paris International Agricultural Show and during the IFAD's Governing
Council in Rome, Italy.

What is the International Dakar Agricultural Forum ?

This international event is based on the first Dakar
Agricultural Forum which, on 4th and 5th February 2005, reunited several
heads of state and more than 800 participants: ministers, researchers and
academics, international organizations, NGOs, multinational companies and
agricultural organizations from around world on the theme of "global
agricultural divide."

The Forum, open to all nations, is now considered a precursor.
Indeed, issues on agriculture and food concern the future of the planet: land
purchases, riots, repeated agricultural crises, agricultural price
volatility…

As an arena for exchange at the initiative of President Wade
and the countries of the South, the Forum is intended as a prelude to the
Agriculture G20 summit.
