LONDON, January 26, 2011 - Still time to see MyCity Exhibition in Dublin MyCity, a multimedia
exhibition showcasing contemporary Dublin and its visions for the future, is
now on permanent display on the ground floor level of Wood Quay Venue.
Created and produced by the Dublin City Council, MyCity is an excellent way
for visitors to learn more about 21st century Dublin.
Traditionally, Dublin has been one of the world's great centres of
literature and learning. But contemporary Dublin remains a mystery to many
tourists. Dublin has been the scene of a legendary economic transformation
over the last decade and a half as the explosive growth of its information
technology has lured residents from all around the world. These days the
poets you hear holding forth in Dublin's legendary pubs are just as likely to
have ancestors hailing from India or Nairobi as they do from County Cork.
The modern multimedia exhibition MyCity, created and produced by Dublin's
own City Council is an excellent way for visitors to familiarize themselves
with this vibrant, new, multi-cultural Dublin. Themed interactive kiosks
focusing upon the city's people, places, culture, movement, enterprise and
environment, showcase both contemporary Dublin and visions of its dynamic
future. A three dimensional map allows visitors to plot the developments that
will shape Dublin in the years to come, while an interactive timeline lets
them trace Dublin's history from its beginnings as a Viking outpost to its
vital new role as one of the centres of the 21st century's information
economy. The exhibition is a favourite with students, families, creative
types and urban professionals alike; it is one of those attractions that
appeal to all walks of life. MyCity, located in the heart of the city on the
ground floor level of Wood Quay Venue, is free of charge and open to the
public Mondays through Fridays from 9:30am to 5:00pm, and on Saturdays from
10:00am to 4:00pm.
MyCity, of course, is just one of many attractions and activities that
make a Dublin trip a wonderful family holiday. Dublin is easy to get to;
cheap flights (www.expedia.ie/Flights) and cheap travel by other
transportation options such as train or boat are available from all parts of
the UK. Most major EU and US cities also offer frequent air flights to
Dublin. There are hotels and accommodation in Dublin (
www.expedia.ie/Hotels) — from inexpensive hostels to luxury hotels
(www.expedia.co.uk/Hotels) — to meet every price point. But once in
Dublin, MyCity should be one of the first attractions you go to see because
it will show you a dynamic, 21st century Dublin that many tourists are never
properly introduced to.
