The Power of Change From the Trocaire Box

DUBLIN, March 7, 2011 - The Trocaire box is filled with hopes, dreams and pride. Every penny,
pound and euro it has held over the last four decades has travelled the world
transforming lives and giving the poor a voice.

Your change can be very powerful. The change from the Trocaire box has
given people freedom from hunger, injustice, and has given them hope. In tiny
communities worldwide, farmers' crops are flourishing, parents now earn a
dignified living and children have a bright future ahead of them.

This Lent, Trocaire's Lenten campaign is about how poverty makes people
vulnerable and invisible, forcing them to live in danger and in fear. On the
front of this year's box, we meet Digna, a young girl from La Confianza in
Northern Honduras. In her community, families are living in fear of their
lives, risking everything for the right to own enough land to earn a decent
living for the future. They need support to protect themselves, stand up for
their rights and make a better life for the future.

Trocaire's long-term development work, which is funded through its annual
Lenten campaign, supports communities not only in Honduras, but across Latin
America and throughout the developing world. This work enables families to
build a life for themselves, feed their children and give them a better
