BERLIN, August 2, 2011 -
- New Name Reflects the Company’s Leadership Position and Evolution to Deliver the Business-class of Cloud Desktop Services
ThinPrint today announced the consolidation of its ThinPrint and Cortado products under the new company name, Cortado. While all other aspects of the company remain the same, the Cortado name better reflects the company’s unique position in the market as the only company to deliver the business-class of cloud desktop services. Cortado offers complete strategic solutions for the enterprise user looking to keep pace with the evolution of the industry, increase productivity, save time and reduce costs.
The company is largely known as the manufacturer of the leading enterprise print solution, ThinPrint. These products soon reached beyond their initial market in the virtual desktop space, to become strategic solutions for enterprises of all sizes and verticals. Shortly after its foundation, the company began the development of Virtual Desktop Processes technology for smartphones and tablets, which will soon be available for any web browser.
As a result of prior successes and industry evolution, it becomes necessary to group the company’s activities under a name that comprises all of its activities so it can continue to develop innovative, reliable and secure solutions for its partners and customers.
“The virtual cloud is the computing environment of the future,” said Carsten Mickeleit, CEO of Cortado. “As cloud computing continues to rise and traditional desktops become less necessary in the business world, our company is evolving; the Cortado name better showcases our capabilities in delivering the business-class of cloud desktop services.”
Cortado meets this demand with its cloud desktop in the form of “desktop as an app”, which is the best option for any app-centric device. In order to support the cloud desktop, Cortado delivers a variety of services at the enterprise layer to enable users to access, view, print and perform. These services include among others, printing, print management, secure mobile device enterprise IT integration, and mobile business and professional hosting. In the future, for browser-only devices, Cortado will deliver the cloud desktop in the form of a web desktop with cloud desktop functionality delivered to any device.
“Cortado’s cloud desktops services for mobile devices have always been complementary to ThinPrint’s enterprise print solutions,” said Carsten Mickeleit, CEO of Cortado. “Both brands have enjoyed a phenomenal reputation in some of the world’s most innovative markets and we will continue providing outstanding value for our partners and customers under the Cortado name.”
The renaming leverages the company’s long history of success. Since 1999, the company has since built a customer base of over 11,000 enterprise customers as well as hundreds of thousands of subscribers to its cloud desktop services. Moving forward, the ThinPrint .print product family will be developed and marketed under the ThinPrint name. All existing products and services will continue to be available as before from its offices, distributors, partners and resellers around the world.
