TÜV SÜD Tests Vehicle Components for the Swedish Market
MUNICH and STRAUBING, Germany, November 16, 2010 - In the future, TÜV SÜD will be able to assist vehicle component
manufacturers even more effectively in launching their products on the
Swedish market. Transportstyrelsen, the competent Swedish authority, has
approved TÜV SÜD SENTON GmbH as a Technical Service. This approval is the
prerequisite for the tested products to obtain the e5 approval for the
Swedish market.
Straubing-based TÜV SÜD SENTON GmbH specializes in testing the
electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of vehicles, vehicle components and
industrial products. The EMC experts test a host of automotive components
including electronic and electrical display and control units such as
immobilizers, LED headlamps or electronic seat adjustments for compliance
with European Directive 72/245/EEC. "Basically, manufacturers can place any
of their products approved by the Federal Transport Authority of Germany
(Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt ,KBA) on the market throughout the European Union, as
the approval is based on European standards", explains Johann Roidt, Managing
Director of TÜV SÜD SENTON GmbH. "However, some manufacturers set great store
by approval by the Swedish Transport Agency Transportstyrelsen. The approval
as a Technical Service now permits us to fulfil this request as our test
reports are recognized as the basis for the 'e5 approval'."
TÜV SÜD, one of the leading international providers of testing and
certification services, intends to further expand its activities in
Scandinavia. TÜV SÜD SENTON's current approval by the Swedish Transport
Agency Transportstyrelsen is another step in the implementation of this
strategy. The TÜV SÜD subsidiary offers EMC testing in accordance with all
important international standards, holding all the required national and
international accreditations and approvals - for example by Deutsche
Akkreditierungsstelle Technik (DATech) or Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH
(DAkkS), the Federal Transport Authority of Germany (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt,
KBA), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the USA and Industry
Canada in Canada. The main beneficiaries are the manufacturers, as the EMC
experts can offer combined testing for various target markets that ensures
compliance with the applicable standards and fast, efficient and smooth
handling.
