By Click Records Entertainment Ltd, PRNESunday, February 7, 2010
LONDON, February 8 - Sky1 are to air a new documentary this coming Sunday 14th February at
6:00pm about the world famous Pineapple Dance Studios located in London's
Covent Garden. The documentary is a mix between Airport and Fame and follows
the lives and stories of dance teachers and students through their journey
into the world of dance.
One story, which flows throughout the 13-part documentary, is self
proclaimed 'ready-made popstar' Andrew Stone, one of the many dance teachers
at Pineapple. Andrew is the lead singer of a new pop band called "Starman"
who are viewed throughout the programme on their epic journey trying to make
it in the music business to obtain that ultimate record deal.
The band are followed from their start through styling, photo-shoots,
rehearsals, first time performances, music videos, showcases and even a
single release, the band show a real insight into what it takes to make it in
the music business.
The band's Manager, also featured in the programme, is 21 year old
entrepreneur 'Robert Davies' who having set-up his own record company, Click
Records Entertainment Ltd, at the age of 16, shows just how hard the
traditional approach to making it in the music business really is compared to
the glitz of the Xfactor approach.
Davies actually worked for Simon Cowells' company SYCO back in 2008 and
worked with the Xfactor Team the year it was won by Alexandra Burke. He also
worked with George Sampson, the winner of Cowells' other TV Talent Show
"Britain's Got Talent". When asked of his time at SYCO, he comments;
"I have the greatest of respect for Simon, he truly is an inspiration to
me, I respect his work and his business and it was an honour working for him
in 2008!"
He continues;
"Simon Cowell has worked very hard in his life and deserves his position
in the business. What I'm going to show you is just what he had to go through
in his early years. It's like a Star Wars prequel, only I'm not Luke
Skywalker."
Davies is followed managing the band whilst holding down a full time job
at EA Games. His consistent struggle with limited budget and time shows the
dedication required to make the big time. With a couple of single releases
already under his belt he is convinced that "Starman" is going to make it.
Tune in to Sky1 and Sky1 HD at 6:00pm on Sunday 14th February to begin this
epic story!
Who knows, maybe Mr. Cowell may finally have some competition.
