BERLIN and DÜSSELDORF, Germany, September 13, 2011 -

The international science conference, Falling Walls, will take place in Berlin on 9 November 2011 for the third time. Twenty top researchers from around the world - including Nobel Prize winner Aaron Ciechanover and Cédric Villani, winner of the Fields Medal - will present scientific breakthroughs from a wide range of specialist areas. A.T. Kearney and the organisers have created the Falling Walls Lab, a new forum giving 100 excellent emerging scientists and young professionals the opportunity to present their own breakthroughs, ideas and visions before the conference. The conference will be opened by the German Federal Minister of Education and Research, Annette Schavan. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, will deliver the keynote speech. The application deadline for the conference is 9 October 2011. More information is available at www.falling-walls.com/lab.

A jury will select 100 candidates from the applicants, who will take part in the Falling Walls Lab on 8 November 2011. Students, Ph.D. students, young professionals and entrepreneurs under the age of 35 from around the world can apply. During the lab, participants will have three minutes to show the breakthroughs and new concepts which they are currently developing. They will have the opportunity to discuss them with a selected audience of sector experts and decision-makers and will receive detailed insights into the work and research of other young candidates.

The scholarship includes participation in the Falling Walls Lab, accommodation for one night in Berlin and a ticket to the Falling Walls Conference on 9 November.
