Partnership extends BancTec's growth in Africa

LONDON, December 16 - BancTec, Inc., a global provider of advanced, high-volume, document and
payment processing solutions and services, has signed a distribution
agreement with South Africa-based ImageTEK, a leading provider of scanners
and document capture solutions. The agreement covers distribution in South
and sub-Saharan Africa of BancTec's highly acclaimed IntelliScan(R) and
E-Series high-speed document scanning and sorting transports.

"ImageTEK has a depth of experience and proven capability in delivering
document capture solutions and scanners throughout South Africa and beyond.
Combined with their superior technical support organisation, these
capabilities make ImageTEK the best partner for BancTec to further expand our
international footprint," said Jim Forkin, vice president of international
business development, BancTec. "Their market penetration and extensive
relationships, in conjunction with our enterprise-scale solutions, will
deliver significant benefits for large organisations throughout the region."

"There is a gap in the high-end production scanner technology market, and
we believe that BancTec will be able to furnish us with solutions that
enhance, and reduce the cost of, document and payment processing operations,"
said Ian Humphreys, CEO, ImageTEK. "We look forward to partnering with
BancTec to extend the range of solutions we offer and further our involvement
in the massive technology adoption initiatives being implemented by both
government and the private sector in the region."

The South African government has embarked on an ambitious 10-year, US$80
billion
capital expenditure program, which will fuel significant growth in
both the public and private sectors. The major growth in business process
outsourcing (BPO) and service related industries will provide increased
demand for document capture and scanning related technologies.
